7th Grade:

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling

     - Harry has a terrible life.  A mysterious visitor rescues him and takes him to a new school -

2nd Grade:

1st Grade:

There's A Nightmare In My Closet by Mercer Mayer

     - A little boy overcomes his fear by facing the Nightmare in his closet.  Is the Nightmare 

       really as scary as he seems?

Kindergarten and Pre-Kindergarten:

Strega Nona by Tomie dePaola

     - Grandma Witch tells Big Anthony not to touch the pasta pot.  Will he listen?

8th Grade:

The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame

     - Read all about Mr. Toad's wild ride and his obsession with motor cars.

Chasing Lincoln's Killer by James L. Swanson

     - A book all about the chase and capture of John Wilkes Booth.  This is a true story.

​

7th Grade:

The Bad Beginning by Lemony Snicket (Book 1 of A Series of Unfortunate Events)

     - Three kids lose their parents at a young age.  Now they have to live with someone who

       claims to be their family.

​

Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson

     - The story of pirate Long John Silver and cabin boy Jim Hawkins.  Beware of the black spot!

6th Grade:

Freak the Mighty by Rodman Philbrick

     - Max is tall but not very bright.  Freak is small but very smart.  Read about how the two boys

       become good friends.

Just So Stories by Rudyard Kipling

     - A collection of folklore about how animals got their special features.

​

5th Grade:

Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney (Book 1)

     - Greg Heffley is starting middle school and is just trying to fit in.  You will love the pictures

       that go with the story!

Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O'Dell

     - A survival story of a young Native American girl left behind on an island.  Based on a true

       story.

4th Grade:

Ramona the Pest by Beverly Cleary

     - Ramona is in Kindergarten.  Read about how she always manages to get in trouble.

Sarah, Plain and Tall by Patricia MacLachlan

     - This book takes place in the late 1800s.  A father and his children are trying to find a new

       mother to complete their family.

3rd Grade:

Flat Stanley by Jeff Brown

       him.

Good Grief Third Grade by Colleen O'Shaughnessy McKenna
